TEECS Celebrates Earth Day!

Monday, April 22 and Tuesday, April 23, 2019, Thomas Edison EnergySmart Charter School celebrated Earth Day. Every grade participated in activities that celebrated the environment. The activities started off with each class cleaning their classroom, desks, lockers, and cubbies with Sustainable Earth cleaning wipes, Kindergarten classes held a solar cookout, 1st grade classes painted rocks to decorate the school garden, 2nd grade classes took care of the school garden by planting some new plants, 3rd grade classes made signs for the school’s new composter, 4th grade classes performed a property cleanup on our neighbors property, 5th and 6th grade classes helped hang a TEECS sign made out of bottle caps on our fence, 7th grade classes planted flowers and plants along the fence of the school’s parking lot, 8th grade classes participated in cleaning up the main road of the school (Pierce Street), and 9th grade classes went off property and participated in a nature hike. All classes enjoyed a picnic lunch outside on the soccer field.

In celebration of Earth Day, the SmartTech classes at Thomas Edison EnergySmart Charter School created a TEECS logo sign made out of recycled bottle caps. Each class had a part in sorting caps by color and gluing them onto the boards. Today, April 23, 2019, the school hung them on the fence of the soccer field.
