23 Aug Active Drill Shooting
On Friday, August 23, Thomas Edison EnergySmart Charter School was utilized by the Somerset County S.W.A.T Team and Negotiators as well as the Somerset County Office of Emergency Management (OEM) for their monthly Active Shooter Training drill. We greatly appreciated their efforts and time spent with us helping to improve our school safety.
The purpose of this Active Shooter Drill was to set forth procedures to be used by the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office in the handling of active shooter situations as well as to familiarize themselves with the layout of our school. These drills help to develop tactics which are swift, decisive and organized so that these incidents may be resolved with maximum safety and as rapidly as possible, neutralizing the active threat to students.
All of TEECS’ staff participated in the drill and appreciated the insight and experience gained from this specific type of training.
