11 Jun EIGHTH GRADE GRADUATION, CONGRATULATIONS!
WELCOME TO TEECS HIGH SCHOOL!
On Wednesday, June 8th, Thomas Edison EnergySmart Charter School held its 8th grade MOVING UP CEREMONY!
The ceremony was held in TEECS’ gymnasium with our student’s families in attendance. The guest speaker was Mr. John P. Albert. Mr. Albert is an advocate and lobbyist whose specialization is serving non-profits who work in youth development. His advocacy has resulted in policy change concerning after-school and pre-k programs, and his work secured millions in funding for after-school programs.
Throughout the ceremony, students performed for and spoke to their classmates.
• Current 8th grade students, Vaishvik and Olivia, sang the National Anthem to open the ceremony.
• TEECS’ Student Council President and member of our first graduating high school class, Mikaylah, addressed the future high school student body.
• Current 8th grade students, Deborah and Siona, winners of the graduation speech contest, gave a speech and read a poem for their fellow classmates.
We are so proud of our future high schoolers. They persevered through one of the most difficult years of their school careers so far. Handling the pandemic with its many restrictions all while navigating a challenging work load of classes has created some of the strongest, hardest working students. The work ethic they have gained this year alone has prepared them well for their first year in high school. They should be as proud of themselves as we are of them!
