FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ – Thomas Edison EnergySmart Charter School took another step towards its mission to focus on green/renewable energy.

Students, parents, and staff celebrated the “National Walk & Bike to School Day” Wednesday morning.

“Our goal is to help grow this movement locally and inspire the community to come together to promote health, air quality awareness and safer routes to school for our students,” TEECS Lead Person, Oguz Yildiz said in a news release.

The day started off at around 8:00 am at the Sannova Analytical Inc. parking lot located at 155 Pierce Street across the street from the school. Parents/guardians, special guests, and school buses coordinated to drop off students off at Sannova.

The group walked from the lot, down Pierce Street to the World’s Fair Drive Pierce Street intersection. Police helped with traffic at the crosswalk.

The PTO provided refreshments for all participants after the walk. Councilman Theodore Chase (Ward 1) was there, and he was interviewed by News 12.
