Thomas Edison EnergySmart Charter School’s Model UN students participated in the United Nations event in New York. The students participated in a Q&A session with the actual Kuwait delegation of the United Nations, Mikaylah and Sudip represented the Dominican Republic at the UN Security Council to discuss the situation in Myanmar, Ahmed and Keon represented the Disarmament and International Security Committee, Jessica Joseph sat in on the Social, Cultural, and Humanitarian Committee where they discussed climate change and natural disaster effects on refugees, Elizabeth Williams was a member of the South Sudan Executive Cabinet where she served as was the Minister of Labor, Public Service, and Human Resources and discussed and debated the South Sudan Civil War, and Jaap represented Kuwait at UNIDO (UN Industrial Development Organization). After all these sessions, the students participated in a Delegate Dance and closing ceremonies.
